Day 2 *Mary

Hello,

Meeting you again today on our blog with some new experiences about Turkey...
This is my second day in Istanbul, but I want to confess that I had a big communication problem with Turkish people... They don't know any English at all... So we keep talking to them with either pointing to what we need to say or by signs!!

Howeve, I begin to learn some words which I am really thankful for Dila & Nihan that they teach me how to pronounce & read... Here are some of the words I can say now....

Thanks You: Tesekkur ederim
No: Hayir
Yes: Evet
Water: Su
Good bye: Gule Gule
Boy: Bay
Girl: Bayan
For rent: Kiralik
Bread: Ekmek
Juice: Suyu

And for the nice thing I found some words that are the same in Arabic... Such as:

Tea: Cai ---- and they pronounced it "SHAIY"
Organe Juice: Portakal Suyu "PORTAKAL"
Alo: Efendim "EFENDEM"
Hello: Merhaba "MARHABA"
Palace: Saray "SAREAY"
Store: Dukkan "DUOKKAN"
Tips: Bakshish

Yalla, I will leave you now with these words & talk to you tommorow with new experience...
And Sure, I won't forget to tell you what is going on with the Turkish language...

Have a great night...

Day 1 *Mary

Hello Friends,

Hope your doing well in your life & enjoying summer everywhere...

I am Mary Habib,  American University in Cairo (AUC) graduate, having my summer course in Istanbul, Turkey for 23 days beginning from June 25th, at 10pm in Yedipete University...

I am travelig with two sweet girls Amal El Nakeeb & Maha El Kady... And it was my first time to meet Amal today... I am really happy to meet her and hoping to spend nice time all together... (Photos)

We took the Turkish Airline & it was the first time for me to have the window seat... So, I was really happy. The plane passed by Tanta, Mansura & then took its way to Istanbul above the Mediterranean Sea then to Ankara & fianlly we arrived Istanbul after one hour dely in Egypt.... At this moment, I looked through the window and told myself: "Cheer Up Mary, your now learning alot about yourself & the world around you, Thanks God for everything"

For the amazing weather we had it was raining and in the same time very hot... So, I remembered when mamy told me take a jacket with you & I was very happy that I obeyed her words ;)

Then we met two girls from the program we have Dili & Nahla... They are very sweet, kind & friendly... Happy that they will be with me in the class :)

We arrived the Droms at 1 am, Istanbul timing and we checked in taking our rooms... My room is very nice, I liked it, but I am alone with no roomates till now... So, I think I will be in Amal & Maha's room daily... Any objections girls?!

Bas, and I am going to sleep in a little bit, because tommorow will be my first day in Turkey...
I won't tell you anything about tommorow now, but I will only promise to write you my experience through out the 23 days I am spending here...

Have a great night :)
